![]() ![]() While all of these Green Lanterns are worthy of admiration, it’s unfortunate that DC’s former primary Green Lantern is portrayed as little more than a side character in recent years as this influx of amazing new Lanterns has led to Kyle Rayner taking a backseat to this newer generation. Jemisin and Jamal Campbell mirrored Kyle’s time as the Torchbearer under an entirely different set of circumstances. It's so cool, Marvel tried to copy it unsuccessfully twice (Quasar's Quantum Bands are an obvious copy of a Green Lantern ring and the Nova Corps wishes it was as cool as the Green Lantern Corps) and DC itself created multiple Lantern Corps themselves, but none of them will ever be popular as the original. Likewise, Jo Mullein’s journey as a lone Lantern in Far Sector by N.K. The Green Lantern Corps is one of the coolest concepts in comics. Like Kyle Rayner before them, neither Simon Baz nor Jessica Cruz saw themselves as particularly worthy of their Green Lantern rings, but since their debut they have proved themselves as true heroes and beloved characters. ![]() And though these new Lanterns have deservedly been in the spotlight, the roots of their characterizations can be traced back to Kyle. In many ways, Kyle is treated like the forgotten middle child between the classic older Lanterns like Jordan or John Stewart and the newest generation of Ringslingers like Baz, Cruz, and Mullein. Unfortunately, this has left Rayner in an awkward position. Joe Ledger was an astronaut who rescued a Skrull named Skymax on one of his missions. ![]() Whether it’s Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz, or most recently Jo Mullein, DC Comics has knocked it out of the park with one new fan-favorite Lantern after another. Daughter of the original Green Lantern and the supervillain Thorn, and fraternal younger twin sister of Obsidian, Jennie-Lynn Hayden became the hero known. Green Lantern and Doctor Spectrum would most likely get along, considering the Doctor is Marvels version of Green Lantern. Since Kyle’s time as the primary Green Lantern, fans have been introduced to more than a few worthy Corpsmen of the mantle. ![]()
